THE WHY.

‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Matthew 25:40

In Mark 12:31 we are given a clear command, to “…love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Loving our neighbors isn't simply a good suggestion, it's at the very heart of what it means to follow Christ. As we experience God's love for us, we are called to reflect that same love by serving, encouraging, and caring for the people He has placed around us.

This is why one of our core values and part of our mission at Downtown Community Church is to Be Great Neighbors. We believe the Gospel transforms not only our hearts but also the way we engage with our city. Whether it's serving alongside local ministries, meeting practical needs, building meaningful relationships, or simply showing kindness in our everyday interactions, we want the love of Christ to be evident in everything we do.

Being a great neighbor begins right here in Tallahassee, but it doesn't stop at our city limits. We are passionate about seeing God's love reach our neighborhoods, our communities, and beyond through local outreach, missions, and opportunities to serve wherever God leads. We believe that every act of service, no matter how big or small, is an opportunity to point people to Jesus and demonstrate His love in tangible ways.

The neighbors.
